FAQ

Question

Answer

What is FEPOW Day

August 15th - To remember those who suffered and those who died in Japanese PoW Camps during WWII

How many years did they suffer

Most Japanese PoWs were prisoners for 3 to 4 years. Hong Kong being taken by the Japanese on Christmas day 1941, the Japanese surrendered August 15th  1945. There were not many escapes as there was nowhere to go

Why call the transport ships ‘Hellships’

Poor air, cramped conditions, limited food and water, as we would imagine hell to be

Why become a member when the information on the internet is free to view

Although it is free for all to view, it does cost money to put the information on the internet. Hosting fees are high for the amount of information from the FEPOW sites. Plus I use Findmypast to comile the projects run. When I am no longer here the site information would die with me, now, with the members help, the sites  can be kept going.

What do the members gain

A FEPOW Family pin plus the satisfaction that they are ‘Keeping the Candle Burning’ for their loved ones.
