Have added a page within the Roll of Honour in the ‘Site Memorial’ section, the information pages are listed near the bottom of the page. Could you please make sure this is your grandfather as I have used your photo:- http://www.roll-of-honour.org.uk/p/html/prior-john-george-clifton.htm

Sometimes a story falls into place, this is one of those stories. With the snippets from the obituary I was able to do this. I believe the MID, and or oak leaves, might have come from the 1959 flight, but not certain. Have put a link to the information references at the bottom of the Jack’s page, ‘Prisoner Doctor’ book by Richard Philips was in my FEPOW library of books and provided much information about Haruku Island and Ambon Island, a must read also ‘Death in the Spice Islands’ which I put on some years ago by Amanda Johnston. Please ‘Refresh’ the page in your browser to see the new information added:- http://www.roll-of-honour.org.uk/p/html/prior-john-george-clifton.htm
Another find, is Jack shown in the photo of the crew of the Valiant in 1959, the first non-stop flight to Cape Town (maybe on far right):- http://www.214squadron.org.uk/history_the_valiant_years_m.htm
