The Empress of Australia was converted into a troop ship during WW11 and used to repatriate PoWs in September 1945.
The sea route the Empress of Australia took to pick up PoWs and Internees was:- Hong Kong 1945/09/12. Then sailing to Manila, arriving on the 13th September.
PoWs embarked before sailing on September 20th to Singapore arriving September 24th. Some PoWs disembarked and women and children internees boarded the ship.
Then on the 1945/09/27 she sailed for home. Arriving Colombo October 2nd, Aden October 10th and Suez October 16th. The Empress of Australia then sailed for the UK. Berthing at Liverpool 27th October 1945.
