Keeping the Candle Burning
The internees at the Fukushima Internee Camp were captured at sea by German armed raiders and taken by the Germans to Yokohama. These included passengers from the Nankin and SS Kirkpool.
At Yokohama On 10th July 1942 they were put into Japanese custody by the Germans and put into the care of a Special Branch of the Police of the Fukushima. They travelled through the night by train to Fukushima, reaching the newly formed interment camp at about 9.00 a.m..
